cupcakes + bouncy house

zack & penny were lucky enough to be able to go to their pal sophie's 2nd birthday party today, where they had their first (but certainly not last) "bouncy house" experience. zack was predictably timid about zooming down the slide (he did once) but enjoyed hopping around with the other kids. it was a crisp fall day and both the kiddos and mom & dad had a great time.

when penny and i go into zack's room when he wakes up from his 3 1/2 hour daily nap (really, no kidding), he often says "penny in cribbie". it's adorable to see them start interacting, playing and even sharing more. if zack is feeling especially nice, he'll even let penny hold "doggers", as in the picture below.

penny --- 10 months old today. i can't believe you're only a couple of months away from being 1! the time is flying & you're more and more beautiful every day.

1, 2....

until today, zack was able to count to 2. literally, we'd say "one" and he'd say "two" and that was that. however, this morning, during breakfast, dad was counting zack's french toast pieces and when tim said "one...", zack continued, "two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten." just like that. here's another attempt (ten is missing, but who needs ten anyhow!?)

brimfield

mom got rather adventurous this week and headed to the brimfield antique show with the 2 kiddos in tow. it actually ended up being a fantastic early fall day, cool and sunny and then warmer in the afternoon. zack and penny were total troopers as mom browsed through vintage letters, skeleton keys, plates, pyrex, paintings, and other really useless but fun stuff. some highlights:

the best day

zack had the most wonderful 2nd birthday party today. due to technical difficulties (ie: blurriness) with the camera, mom is hoping to get some better photos to post from some of the guests. regardless, it was a fantastic day, and zack was thrilled with the tractors & lawnmowers galore. he also received a bunch of cute clothes, some books, a new wagon for him and penny to ride in, and some really neat toys.

hey you! the one in the strawberry shirt and pink diaper. yeah, you. you stood up today. yes, i think you're too small to be standing up on your own. no, i won't let you borrow the car. quit growing up so fast!!
