march madness

in between diaper changes, dad has been attempting to watch the ncaa tournament games. zack and penny (accustomed to the "no tv" rule) have been pretty enthralled...

signs of spring

it's been slowly but surely warming up here on in massachusetts. we've been taking some great walks, playing in the yard (somehow, zack manages to hone in on any ball in a one mile radius...see dad chasing him below), and even seeing some flowers blooming, full of springtime promise. zack couldn't resist giving the forsythia from grampy's yard a sniff...

zack has a favorite new spot, known affectionately as "the cozy", nestled in the small space behind one of our chairs and book cases. he goes there to check out his books and to snuggle.

we have raccoons. or a toddler...

sometimes, mom has to sacrifice in order to sneak in a phone call...

st. patty's day haircut

since mom and dad (and various others) were tired of zack's scraggly baby hairdo, he got his first ever haircut today. mom, zack & penny headed down to the local kids hair salon, kingdom cuts. it could have been a disaster, but zack could not have behaved better. i guess he knows he's a "big boy" now...

r & r

this past weekend, mom and dad took a much-needed mini vacation to boston to celebrate tim's birthday. while they restaurant and bar-hopped, penny and zack had the time of thier lives with meme and papa lou. BOTH of the kiddos slept soundly through the entire night and had to be gotten out of bed in the morning. maybe we should go away more often?

four months old today!

happy four months, penny! we've enjoyed every mintute of it...

papa and uh-doy

this past weekend, zack and penny had a special visit from grandpa keenan (papa for now...) and uncle dan (uh-doy is the best zack can do with that right now...)

we had loads of fun: zack went to the park and even took what was (hopefully) the final sled ride of the season and we enjoyed temps around 60 degrees! we also survived a total of three meals out with the kids!

if you've ever met zack's grampy (grandpa dave), you'll appreciate this impersonation. he has a characterteristic low voice that zack has come to identify his grampy with.... (penny also makes a brief cameo...)

uncle dan sent us a lovely amaryllis plant for christmas. zack has had fun watching it grow from just bulbs to the giant flower it is now.

penny had a fabulous time at her friend madisyn's first birthday party the other day (once she woke up!). here she is hanging out with gal pal geena. geena is exactly three months older than penny. so cute...

penny has discovered her hand. this came in handy (really, no pun intended) during the long wait at the doctor's office the other day.
